1st Draft Magazine and the Finished Product

This is the progress I have made on my school magazine so far. I have not yet made a picture to have on the front cover. A lot of teenagers out there are just sick and tired of school, and no matter how you try to help them or connect with them. So I believe that making a magazine made to help them improve their academic performance, but written in their language, a way that doesn’t look like another one of those advice magazines that they feel haven’t worked for them before and never will on in the future because after a while with all those magazines and people trying to help you, you just get sick and tired of trying. So if they saw a magazine like this, written in a language they feel they can recognize themselves in they would actually be willing to read a magazine like this again. But this is just the way things are written on the cover, this is a advice thing just like all the other, only written so they may not feel completely alone in the world when writing it. I really think something like this could make a difference, 'secrets' that are really just helpful facts, ways to get ''around'' the school system but really just tells you what opportunities the system gives you. I could believe in something like this, shame my Photoshop and editing skills in general aren't really agreeing with me at the moment, but hopefully that will improve with time.

Barnardo's

This type of poster is made to make people more aware of how bad some people have it, and how good we have it in comparison, so we would want to help the unluckier people getting better lives. A normal person who sees a poster like this doesn’t think “well buhuu, too bad for you.” They want to help, because they understand that the way these people live is not a good way of living, but not everyone has the power to do something about thing like this.

In this poster we see a little abused girl. The kind of audience this would appeal too, and the kind of people who would want to do something to help would most likely be, talking about peoples personalities; carers. Carers are people who are less ambitious than aspirers, but also might have been one before giving up their work to, for example, take care of the person’s family. They care about the world and others, and they’re the very loving type of people. People who have a family and sees these posters might want to help, since they have kids their selves, they understand the sad and serious situation these kinds are in and want to help better their lives, just as they want their own kids to grow up happy. But even though you a carer, or you have kids, that doesn’t mean they can help. A big role in these kind of posters, even though it doesn’t say, is that they need money to help these children, and not everyone has enough money to give, even if it is a really good cause, so a big group these posters appeal to is people with money, who has the power to help the way the people with less money cannot.

School/College Magazine Production

During our time in media this year we are required to create two pieces of work, one school/college magazine, and a music magazine. Today we got our first production assignment, the school/college magazine.
We all have to make:
- A front page featuring a photograph of a student in medium close up, some text and a title.
- A draft of a contents page to demonstrate our grasp of photoshop.

This task has to be finished and handed in by the 21st of November, which is about four weeks away. We also have to hand in some answered questions next to it.
